We are pleased to announce that the East County Food Pantry has joined a select group of other pantries. They aim to supply food for the children and their families. This support is provided when the children are released from the Doernbecher Hospital For Children. The newborn unit is also at OHSU. The families can pick up their food on the way home from the hospital.
Alternatively, we will deliver the food to their home. We expect about 4-5 deliveries per month which we will ask people who live in the area to deliver. We will service the areas of Sandy and Corbett alongside the rest of the East County that we currently serve. This way the families of sick children can have food at home while their child recuperates. It’s a great way to support sick children and their families. They won’t need to worry about not having enough food at home when their child leaves the hospital.
Parents need to ask for food from our pantry through Doernbecher or OHSU. Speak with your social worker at the hospital to learn the process. You need to do this 2 days before your child is expected to be released.
